Roadrunners Go on Winning Run

by Owen Munro

The BC Tier 1 Richmond Roadrunners are the hottest team in Jr. B lacrosse right now. Following their thrilling 10-9 overtime victory against the league-leading Coquitlam Adanacs, the Roadrunners have now won six games in a row - they haven’t lost a game since May 29th. Granted, they haven’t been blowing teams out of the water. Their average margin of victory over that six-match span is 2.1 goals and that includes three one-goal games.

The top four teams in BC Tier 1 have all used impressive win streaks to put them in solid playoff position. Both the Adanacs and the fourth-place Delta Islanders had seven-game win streaks earlier in the year (tied for the longest this season) while the second-place Victoria Shamrocks rallied together five consecutive wins.

The Roadrunners could extend their win streak to eight games, but it will be a challenge. Their final two games of the regular season are against the Islanders and Adanacs.
